Alexander Heylin (2000)

Mr. Heylin has a common law practice which concentrates primarily in criminal and employment

law.

Mr. Heylin was recently appointed to the Attorney-General's Prosecuting list as a Grade C.

He has extensive experience in the High Court and County Court. He has also appeared in the construction and technology division and in chancery matters.

Mr Heylin acts in a wide range of employment matters including: redundancy, disability, unfair dismissal, sex discrimination and breach of contract. He is instructed regularly on behalf of the employer's and employees. He deals with employment proceedings both in the Employment Tribunal and High Court.

Mr Heylin has extensive experience prosecuting and defending in the Crown Court. He has been involved in a wide range of cases from murder to robberies, GBH, drug importation and frauds. He has particular experience in cases involving special measures including many sexual cases, and cases which have vulnerable witnesses.

NOTABLE RECENT CRIMINAL CASES -

R - v - Simpson and Hinds - Junior Counsel led by Steven Perian, dealing with high profile gang shooting, s16 Firearms.

R -v- Symmons - Junior Counsel in high profile murder trial led by Nadine Radford QC.

 

REPORTED CASES -

YORKE -V- KATRA (CA 2003) - Counsel for the respondent. Court of Appeal laid down principles on the discretion which CPR 35.8 gives on instructions to joint experts.

PRESTON -V- PARRY (CH dIV 2005) - Counsel for the respondent. HHJ Laddie directed that an order for bankruptcy be made and that cost were recoverable despite the respondents being partially legally aided in the full amount.
